Defilement

Lagos, July 25, 2017 (NAN) An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of one Adeniyi Ikuseka, at the Ikoyi Prisons, for allegedly defiling a teenager.
The accused, 30, was brought before the Magistrate, Mrs A.S. Okubule, on a one-count charge of defilement.
Ikuseka, however, entered a plea of innocence to the charge preferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 13, at about 4.00 p.m., at No. 7, Dele Balogun St., Jakande-Ajangbadi, in Lagos.
She told the court that the accused forcefully defiled and had canal knowledge of an 11-year-old girl in his apartment on that day.
The offence committed, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
NAN reports that Section 137 stipulates life imprisonment for offenders, if found guilty.
Magistrate Okubule granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum, one of who must be a blood relation and a senior ranking officer.
The case was adjourned till Aug. 16, pending receipt of legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions. (NAN)
