Court orders remand of cobbler for stealing, criminal trespass

Abuja, June 6, 2018 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday ordered the remand of a cobbler, Nazifi Ibrahim, who stole iron sky folds.

Ibrahim admitted committing the offence, while the judge, Maiwa Inuwa, ordered the remand, and adjourned the case until June 8 for sentencing.

Ibrahim, who resides at Behind VIO Mabushi, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Ukagha Ijeoma, told the court that one Joshua James of Channel 8, NNPC Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Mabushi Police Station on May 24

Ijeoma said that on the same date at about 9:00 p.m. Ibrahim, formed a criminal intention, and trespassed into the complainant’s compound through the fence.

The prosecutor said that Ibrahim criminally stole the complainant’s iron sky folds  valued yet unknown.

She added that the complainant raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of the people around and Ibrahim was caught with the items.

Ijeoma said that during police investigation, Ibrahim admitted committing the offences.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
