Lagos, May 8, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, on Monday, sentenced a truck loader, Godwin Ojelele to one year imprisonment for stealing N84,000 cash belonging to his driver.

The court convicted Ojelele, 22, for stealing the cash belonging to one Idris Fatai, a truck driver with the 7-Up Bottling Company, Lagos.

Ojelele, who lives in Ojokoro area of Lagos, had pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the convict had, on April 22, stole the money.

He said the money belonged to the driver, with whom the convict was attached as truck loader, in the premises of the company.

“Fatai discovered that his money was missing and raised an alarm,’’ Egunjobi told the court.

He said the convict was found to have stolen the money through the recordings of a CCTV camera installed in the premises of the company.

The prosecutor said the convict was apprehended and the case was reported to the police.

He said the offence was contrary to Section 285 of Lagos State Law, 2011.

The section provided for a one- year-jail term for the offender.

In her judgment, the Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Osinbajo, sentenced Ojelele to one-year imprisonment without an option of fine. (NAN)
