Court grants bail to 25-year-old student charged with cheating

Abuja, April 6, 2017 (NAN) An FCT High Court, Maitama, on Thursday granted bail to 25-year-Peter Kadei, a graduate of University of Benin, charged with cheating.
The judge, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf granted Kadei bail after his lawyer, Mr Benjamin Ediga applied for his bail, which the prosecuting counsel, Maryam Aminu did not oppose.
Baba-Yusuf, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000, and a surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till July 4 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Maryam Aminu informed the court that the defendant on May 2016, conspired with one Destiny now at large with the intent to defraud.
Aminu said Kadei provided his bank account number into which N10, 000 was paid into by one Mary Okoro for herself and her cousin.
She said that the amount was for securing usher jobs at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
Aminu said the offences contravened Sections 8 (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and 85 and 322 of the Penal Code.
Kadei pleaded not guilty to the offences. (NAN)
