Ibadan, April 7, 2017 (NAN) An Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi in Ibadan on Friday dissolved a 35-year-marriage between a farmer and his wife because of repeated provocation and embarrassment.

Joseph Oyeleke had approached court to dissolve his marriage to Kehinde Oyeleke, whom he accused of lacking contentment and having bad character.

The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, who dissolved the marriage, ruled that testimonies of both parties had proved that love had ceased to exist between them.

Balogun said that the husband and wife had agreed to end the marriage to allow peace to reign.

He gave custody of the first child to the man while the second child of the marriage was given to the woman.

He advised the parties to ensure that they provided for each of the kids.

Balogun, however, warned that failure of any of the parties to provide for the needs of the kids would not be taken lightly by the court.

Earlier, Joseph had told court that Kehinde was in the habit of complaining and was never satisfied with whatever they had as a couple.

“Her lack of contentment has made her to be committed to adultery.

She got pregnant for other men on two occasions but she returned to my house after those shameful incidents, due to the love I have for her.

“My lord, she is carrying another baby for another man now and it is possible that she will return to my house soon as it had happened on two previous occasions.

“So I am seeking dissolution of the marriage before she plans returning to me for the third time,’’ Joseph said.

In her defense, Kehinde told court that she was not getting proper care and that she had shouldered the responsibility of bringing up their two kids.

She, however, prayed the court to allow her to have the two kids to take care of them properly. (NAN)
