Abuja, April 21, 2017 (NAN) Dr Peter Kuroshi, Registrar, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has urged builders to continually acquire knowledge and develop their skills to enhance their competence and professionalism.
Kuroshi, gave this advice at the closing of its 15th Induction and Investiture of new builders on Friday in Abuja.
He said that building profession was centred on core values of competence and integrity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that CORBON inducted 106 new builders at the occasion.
“To be on top, you must continually acquire knowledge and develop your skills, especially in the core areas of building professional practice.
“Any professional decision and action you consider taken should be hinged on building technology, building production management, quality management, health and safety and building maintenance management.”
Kuroshi warned the inductees that the certificate, practice license, seal and stamp they received which were the properties of the council could be withdrawn when misused.
He, therefore, noted that the practice licence would be valid for one year and should be renewed after payment of renewal and other relevant fees.
The expert also urged the new builders to take full responsibilities of their professional conduct.
“Some of you will be builders in academics, others will be building consultants or core builders.
“Wherever you found yourself, note this, the building profession is centred on core values of competence, respect, trust and integrity.
“Hence you can only fulfill your professional role effectively on the premise of the trust the public can have in your capacity which you must earn as you practice.
CORBON is a government regulatory agency, established in 1989 to regulate and control building technology, profession and practices under the supervision of Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing. (NAN)
