Doma (Nasarawa State), April 11, 2017 (NAN)Mr. John Danlami-Ogah, the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has urged the newly-employed workers under the state Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) to shun corruption and discharge their duties diligently.
Danlami-Ogah made the call on Tuesday in Doma while hosting over 100 newly recruited NAYES members from the area.
No fewer than 1,500 youths were engaged by the state government on April 1 to serve as traffic wardens, sanitary inspectors and community watchers with a monthly stipend of N10,000.
Danlami-Ogah congratulated them for their successful training and urged them to be committed to their duties, to contribute their quota to the development of the area and the state at large
“You are aware that Nasarawa State Youths Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) is one of the state government policies aimed at reducing youths unemployment, restiveness, poverty, social ills as well as to improve on the standard of living of the youths.
“Gov. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is doing his best to reduce the rate of unemployment, youth restiveness and poverty.
“That is why the state government has trained many youths in different skills acquisition programmes to be self-reliant for the benefit of all,’’the council boss said.
Danlami-Ogah called on the NAYES members to use their position to preach peace and unity in the area, adding that no meaningful development could be achieved in a society without peace.
He, therefore, urged the youth to take their jobs with seriousness in order to contribute to the development of the state.
The council boss also urged the youth to justify the confidence reposed in them by living up to their responsibilities.
Earlier, Mr Ahmed Galadima, the Commandant of NAYES in Doma area, said he came to present the workers from the area for advice.
He assured the council of their readiness to perform the duties with seriousness and justify the purpose of their engagement in the scheme. (NAN)
