Warri (Delta) Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) A local contractor, Mr Sheba Palama, has called for active involvement of Nigerian investors in the construction industry to galvanised infrastructural development in the country.
Palama, Chairman, Carija Engineering Services, made the call on Wednesday during the inauguration of the company’s head office in Orhuwhorun, Udu Local Government Area of Delta.
He said that the existing indigenous construction companies needed more investors in the sector to enable them handle the country’s infrastructural projects.
“Nigeria is a developing country, we don’t have enough investors in the companies to enable them do the job and big construction giants like Julius Berger are getting tired,’’ Palama said.
He explained that the company was in partnership with Spanish construction giant, Carija SA Global, to enable them to add value to the construction industry in Nigeria.
“Carija is a world class company in Spain; I decided to go into partnership with them to add value to the construction industry in Nigeria.
“We are also going into quarry and farming in addition to construction,’’Palama said.
He assured the expatriates of their safety while carrying out their legitimate duties in the area.
Mr Roberto Vazquez, President, Carija SA Spain Global, thanked the people of the area for their hospitality and the government for creating an enabling business environment.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mr Mathew Egbi, the Owahwa 11, Okobaro of Jeremi Kingdom, appealed to the youths to embrace peace to attract investors to the area.
“There will be no development without peace, so the youths should stop harassing companies with frivolous fees,” he said. (NAN)
