Abuja, Sept. 12, 2017 (NAN) A 37-year-old contractor, Ikechukwu Onuora, was on Tuesday docked at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, charged with defrauding a man of N370, 000.
Onuora, whose address is unknown, criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Police Prosecutor Florence Avhioboh told the court that the complainant, Ogudu Micheal of Efab Estate, Life Camp, Abuja, reported
the incident at the Life Camp Police Station on Sept. 7.
She said the complainant alleged that on April 4, he gave the accused N370, 000 to construct an aluminum window.
Instead of doing the job, the accused converted the money to personal use and ran to an unknown destination, Avhioboh said.
The offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 and of the Penal Code.
The contractor, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted him a bail of N200, 000 with a surety in like sum.
He said the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and also present an utility bill bearing his name.
Sadiq adjourned the case until Oct. 5 for hearing. (NAN)
