She said the quest spurred her to perform credibly at the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) organised final trials where she picked the Commonwealth Games shirt in the female team.
“I believe that it takes vision, prayers, determination and hard work to achieve anything in life and that has always been the sources of inspiration in my boxing career.
“The national camp sharpened my skill which I brought to play in the final trials that saw me through, and I thank for seeing me through the stages.
“I have always remained focused; my target is to excel in the preliminaries and finally mount the podium wearing the `green-white-green’ to be decorated with my medal,’’ she said.
The 51kg boxer boosted that she would knock-out opponents, adding that she will not be intimidated in spite of the fact that it was going to be her first outing in the Commonwealth Games.
According to her, self confidence is part of the programmes administered to them in the national camp which she absorbed and will apply during her contest in the Commonwealth Games.
Oriyomi, who won the best female boxers award at the Lagos State Boxing Association (LSBA) organised Governors Cup, said she was at home with welfare the package in the national camp.
She said the boxers in camp were well fed, given good accommodation and were taken through daily training with intensive programming in the mornings and evenings.
“Everything is fine in camp; I really thank the sports authority for providing us with the basics and it had helped us to concentrate and adapt to the programmes.
“The national camp was a good experience and since the government have made sure we are adequately prepared for, I will personally bring honour to Nigeria and make my fans proud,’’ Oriyomi added.
