Committee recommends review of Bauchi Revenue Board Scheme of Service

Bauchi, May 2,2018(NAN) A five-man committee set up by the Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue (BIRS) has recommended a review of the Scheme of Service of the Board to address some inconsistencies.
In its report presented on Wednesday by chairman of the committee, Mr Abdulkadir Toro, it noted that the scheme only considered professional cadre, ignoring other administrative cadres.
It also noted that the recruitment exercise conducted in 2011 by the Board was not in compliance with contents of job advertisement dated Oct.19, 2010, just as it decried what it described as rampant misappropriation of public funds.
The committee therefore recommended a review of the recruitment exercise and place officers on appropriate entry scale and salary.
It also recommended that all promotions be based on availability of vacancies, advising that all officers found misappropriating public funds are punish accordingly.
Receiving the report, Chairman of BIRS, Mr Jibrin Jibo, said that the committee was set up to review the laws regulating the Board and some of its activities.
He said that the Board would review the 2011 promotion to bring to an end, agitation by staff over the exercise.
He said that the issue of misappropriation had been addressed since January 2018 with the introduction of Point of Sale (POS).
He said that other activities of the Board that dealt with funds were also automated and various mechanisms introduced to eliminate fraud.
.He thanked the committee for doing a good job, promising to implement its recommendations
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee was set up on March 21, with Mr Abdulkadir Toro as Chairman, Mrs Zainab Dass as Secretary while Baba Misau, Abdullahi Kafi and Ahmed Kafi served as members.(NAN)
