Ilorin, April 6, 2017 (NAN) Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe, the Kwara Commissioner for Information and Communications on Thursday called for proper vetting of media contents especially entertainment programmes aired on television and radio stations.

According to him, less attention was being paid by radio and television presenters on the types of messages disseminated to their target audience particularly children and youths.

Ajeigbe said this at the 10th anniversary of “Figbadunsayo’’ TV entertainment programme in Ilorin while emphasising the importance of messages from the electronic media aimed at addressing social ills and moral decadence.

He alleged that most entertainment programmes currently promote immorality and indiscipline among the youth.

He advised the upcoming artistes to engage in advocacy in the lyrics saying that it can be achieved only through commitment to lofty ideals and perseverance.

Earlier, Nurudeen Mohammed, the presenter of the programme said it was designed for relaxation of the audience while also addressing immoral acts in the society.

He, however, urged public and spirited individuals as well as corporate bodies to support the programme.

Highlight of the event include the presentation of awards to personalities that had helped in the sustaining the programme over the years. (NAN)
