Lagos, March 9, 2017 (NAN) A 20-year-old driver, Semiu Alabi, who allegedly drove a commercial bus recklessly and injured two pedestrian, was on Thursday docked before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court .
Alabi, who resides in Fatunbi Street, Oke-Odo, a suburb in Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on reckless driving.
The prosecutor Sgt. Ishola Samuel told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 11 on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway by Aboru Junction in Lagos State.
He said the accused drove a Volkswagen bus with registration no. KRD 66 XD in a reckless and dangerous manner on public highway.
“The accused hit one Adeyemo Adebayo and Austine Okuhe, who were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital by passersby,’’ he said.
Samuel said the accused drove on the public highway without the prescribed papers which includes a driver’s license, vehicle license, certificates of road worthiness and insurance.
He said the offences contravened Sections 19, 172 and of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Onilogbo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He said that the sureties must show evidence of payment of three year tax to Lagos State Government and adjourned the case till March 15 for mention. (NAN)
