COED, Oro picks quarter-final ticket as Unilorin, Kwarapoly, Fedoffa face early exit

Ilorin, Aug. 22, 2017 (NAN) Kwara State College of Education Oro has qualified for the quarter finals of the ongoing JAMB tertiary institutions football competition.
At the University of Ilorin centre, Kwara State College of Education (COED), Oro defeated Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa 4-3 in a tension soaked encounter played at Unilorin Main Pitch.
COED, Oro had on Monday, in the first Group B game, walked-over Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa to earn three points and three goals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that they currently top the group with six points and will now play their final group game against Delta State University on Wednesday.
Delta State University is second in the group after playing goalless draw with Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.
In Group D, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi walloped University of Nigeria, Nsukka 3-0 to stamp their superiority in the group.
Federal College of Education, Gombe claimed a 2-1 win over Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto to go top of the group with four points.
NAN reports that the last group matches in all the groups will come up on Wednesday.
The likes of University of Ilorin, Federal Polytechnic, Offa and Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, all faced early exit.
University of Ilorin has been mathematically knocked-out of the competition, having lost of their two opening group matches.
Playing from Group C, University of Ilorin lost their first match to Federal Polytechnic, Offa by a lone goal on Monday, and also lost 0-2 to College of Education, Minna on Tuesday.
They will play their last group game on Wednesday against Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, at the Pitch 2 of Kwara Football Academy.
Both Lagos State Polytechnic and College of Education, Minna have four points each, and College of Education, Minna will play Federal Polytechnic, Offa in the last group match by 2pm on Wednesday.
Federal Polytechnic, Offa must beat College of Education, Minna to remain in the competition.
In Group A, Kwara Polytechnic has also lost out of the competition after failing to secure a point from two matches.
They lost the first match 1-0 to Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, and the second game 2-1 to Kaduna Polytechnic on Tuesday.
They will play University of Agriculture on Wednesday at the Main Pitch, Unilorin by 12 noon.
Both Kaduna Polytechnic and Shehu Shagari College of Education have four points ahead of there Wednesday’s matches.(NAN)
