COEASU leader pledges to help transform college

Pankshin (Plateau) Nov. 7, 2017 (NAN) Mr Bakdima Joseph, newly elected Chairman, College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Pankshin Federal College of Education, has pledged to support the management in transforming the college.
Joseph made the pledge at the inauguration of the newly elected executive officers of the union on Tuesday at the college auditorium in Pankshin.
He described his emergence as chairman of the college union as divine.
He said his priority would be to contribute to the academic success and transformation of the college to an enviable one.
“This is our college and we shall not allow unionism to affect the college in any way, but will join hands with the management of the college to make it one of the highly rated colleges in both academic and structural standard.
“By God’s grace, we shall not compromise the welfare of our members in our support to the management but ensure that what is due to us is given to us, ’’ he said.
The COEASU chairman thanked members of the union for finding him worthy to lead them.
He appealed for their maximum cooperation and support to succeed in steering the union.
Earlier, COEASU National President, Mr Nuhu Ogirma, who inaugurated the executive, urged them to keep faith with the trust reposed in them by their members.
Represented by Mr Bala Dafur, National Treasurer of the Union, Ogirma reminded them of the high hopes of members to actualise their rights.
“While I wish you God’s divine guidance, I wish you will equally work with the management of the college to make the college a very conducive atmosphere for academic excellence, ’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other executive members inaugurated include Mr Yemi Oparinde, Vice Chairman; Punchak Noah, Secretary and Chundusu Joshua, treasurer. (NAN)
