Abuja, Jan. 16, 2017 (NAN) The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All (CSACEFA) has condemned the attack on a Mosque in the University of Maiduguri, describing the act as inhuman.
Ms Chioma Osuji, the Policy Advisor, made the condemnation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
NAN recalls that a bomb exploded at the university Mosque on Monday when some students and members of staff of the institution went for morning prayers.
Among those killed in the suicide bomb attack was Prof. Aliyu Mani, the Director of Veterinary Medicine of the university.
Osuji urged government to prioritise school safety to stop further attacks by providing adequate security for schools.
“It is high time government took the safety of schools and lives of students as a priority.”
She stressed the need for all institutions to be properly fenced and security personnel provided with good device to screen those enter the premises.
Osuji said that teachers and pupils should be trained on emergency and safety measures in schools, adding that there was also the need for collaboration with local vigilante groups where schools were located.
The Policy Advisor, however, commended the efforts of the military in the fight against terrorism in the country.(NAN)
