Abuja, May 18, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted cloudy to partly cloudy conditions over the central states of the country on Friday morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Jalingo and Mambilla Plateau.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook issued by its Central Forecast Office on Thursday in Abuja predicted day and night temperatures of 27 to 35 and 16 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively over the region.
It added that there would be prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Minna, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola, Jalingo, Mambilla Plateau, Ibi, Makurdi, Lafia and Lokoja during the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency also predicted that southern states would experience cloudiness over the entire inland and southeast coast with chances of isolated rain showers over Ikeja, and Ijebu-Ode during the morning hours.
It predicted localised thunderstorms over the coastal cities in the afternoon and evening with day and night temperatures of 31 to 34 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, Northern states will experience cloudy to partly cloudy conditions with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Sokoto, Yelwa, Kebbi and their environs during the morning hours.
“There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Dutse, Katsina, Kano, Zaria and Gusau later in the day with day and night temperature of 35 to 41and 22 to 28 degrees Celsius respectively.
“With the continuous incursion of moisture into the country, prospects of weather activities are favourable in most cities across the country in the next 24 hours,’’ NiMet predicted. (NAN)
