Cloudy skies, thundery activities weather to prevail on Wednesday – NiMet

Abuja, April, 25, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted partly cloudy conditions over the central states of the country on Wednesday morning with isolated thunderstorms over Southern Mambilla and Ibi.

NiMet in its Weather Outlook by the Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Tuesday in Abuja predicted chances of localised thunderstorms over Ibi, Lafia, Makurdi, Abuja, Jalingo and Mambilla during the evening and night period

It added that the central states would have day and night temperature of 38 to 43 and 22 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience cloudy morning and localised thunderstorms with day and night temperatures of 31 to 36 and 22 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

It also predicted localized thunderstorms over Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ekiti, Akure, Yenagoa, Ikom, Benin, Warri, Asaba, Umuahia, Oshogbo, Enugu, Owerri, Awka, Abakaliki and Obudu during the afternoon and evening period.

NiMet added that the southern states would have day and night temperatures of 33 to 38 and 20 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

According NiMet, Northern States will experience partly cloudy conditions over places such as Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Dutse, Sokoto, Potiskum, Nguru and Damaturu.

“There are possibilities of localised thunderstorms over Yola in the afternoon and evening hours with and night températures of 38 to 43 and 22 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Due to the expected increase in the moisture level, the northern part of the country would experience increased cloudiness while the south has better prospects of thunderstorms,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
