Islamic knowledge
By Aminu Ahmed Garko
Minna, March 17, 2017 (NAN) Malam Bashir Yankunzu, Chief Imam of Federal University of Technology Central Mosque, Minna, has called on parents to ensure their children acquire Islamic religious knowledge and learn to worship God.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yankunzu made the call in his sermon during the Friday Juma’at in Minna.
He said that acquisition of basic Islamic knowledge by children will enable them to be responsible citizens and fear Almighty God.
The cleric also reminded parents that they would be asked hereafter how they brought up their children.
He called on parents to give their children western education alongside Islamic knowledge.
According to Yankunzu, drugs abuse and other social vices will be avoided, if parents encourage their children to receive Islamic knowledge.
“Parents should make our children to believe that there will be a judgment day where all human beings will give account of their actions before God.
“This is important so that our children can grow up with the fear of Almighty God,” he said. (NAN)
