Abuja, Dec. 30, 2016 (NAN) Rev. Fr. George Ehusani, Chaplain of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation Chapel, Apo, has called on Christian parents to promote true family values in their homes and imbibe same in their children.

Ehusani made the call on Friday in Abuja in a sermon to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, noting that the family was the smallest but the most important unit of society.

According to him, when a family has good values and practiced them, this will have a ripple effect on the society at large.

He said that some Christian families were currently facing crisis because they attended churches for over 20 years without being transformed by the Christian teachings.

“Some men in this age and time are still finding it difficult to accept only female children because they lack the basic christian values.

“A Christian who is transformed by the Christian values, even if he desires to have a male child but has only females or doesn’t even have a child at all, will not change his outlook towards life.

“He will also not blame the wife or think of taking a second wife or having a child outside marriage; he will accept it as God’s plan for him.’’

The cleric said it was important for parents to understand the importance of attending church and pass this on to their children, adding that Christianity was a way of life and not just merely church attendance.

He further urged Christians to cut down on time spent on phones, other technological gadgets and social media and spend more time with family members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Feast of the Holy Family is celebrated by the Catholic Church every Sunday after Christmas. (NAN)
