Ilorin, Feb. 20, 2017 (NAN) The Chief Imam of Agaka Central Mosque, Ilorin, Alhaji Yusuf Olopoewa, has urged   parents to complement western education with  Islamic education in the training of their  children.

Olopoewa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin   that it was imperative for children to understand the purpose of creation early in life in order to guide them in societal conduct.

According to him, a situation whereby Muslim parents only strive to provide western education for  children without Islamic education is not good enough.

”The act isn’t only detrimental, but has been the bane of most of the ills, godlessness and widespread ignorance in the society.

”Though, there is difference between morals  and religion, Muslim parents should balance their children’s education in both western and Islamic ways.

”This gives them the benefit of understanding and serving Allah  correctly with the knowledge acquired.

”Such opportunity will also provide them opportunity to benefit from this world and hereafter, because as parents, our children have right over us just as we have over them, “Olopoewa said.

The cleric  added  that the Islamic education acquired by  children  would benefit them  on their demise   and not western education. (NAN)
