Children

Ilorin, Dec. 19, 2017 (NAN) Pastor Emmanuel Olusegun of Hope in Christ Church, Fate, Ilorin, has warned parents against uttering negative statements on their children.
The cleric, who gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ilorin, said that negative statements could affect the life of a child negatively.
He said that most parents out of anger would speak `dirty language’ to their children, which might have negative effect on them in future.
“There is power in the tongue. You can’t use it anyhow on your children so that you won’t cause an everlasting pain on them.
“You can’t imagine seeing some parents calling their children all sorts of names like `mad, imbecile and fool’ when provoked.
“Parents fail to understand that there are angels that at times automatically say Amen to everything we proclaim. That is why when we pray at times, it comes to pass; and something happens when we curse.
“Most people suffer today because their parents have unknowingly cursed them,” he said.
Olusegun, however, advised parents to say positive things to the lives of their children, not evil words.
“It is time African parents change their mentality by always being positive in their utterances toward their wards,” he said. (NAN)
