Cleric advises workers to imbibe spirit of forgiveness

Owerri (Imo), April 14, 2018 (NAN) Rev. Fr Jacob Otonkon in Umuehihe village, Imo, has called on the Nigerian workers to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness towards one another and be diligent in discharging their duties.

Otonkon said this in his sermon during the Thanksgiving Mass and Grand Civic Reception held in honor of Mr Ndubuisi Osuji for his promotion to the rank of a Federal Permanent Secretary.

The Mass was held at St Brendan’s Catholic Church, Umuehihe, Okwu Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo state.

According to him, forgive your colleagues for wrongs done against you and being generous to them would attract God’s blessing and favour to you.

The priest, while congratulating Osuji for his promotion, urged him to be firm and fair in discharging his duties.

“God’s kindness upon you has brought all these blessings to you and your family. Today we are celebrating your hard work, patience and humility.

“Endeavour to worship God in spirit and in truth to attract more of his blessings, forgive all who have offended you in the course of your career pursuit,’’ he said.

Otonkon also urged the permanent secretary to leave a good legacy for his subordinates, children and community, adding “you should be remembered for something good after you leave office.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Ndubuisi Osuji, Permanent Secretary, Service Policy and Strategic Office, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation was appointed to the rank in July, 2017.

Osuji in his response commended the church and the people of Okwu Ikeduru for the gesture and support while promising that he would not to let them down.

NAN also reports that the Permanent Secretary donated a Lexus Jeep to St Brendan’s Parish as an appreciation to God for His faithfulness.

Dignitaries present at the event were Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Permanent Secretaries and Directors from various ministries, the Eze-Imo,His Royal Majesty Samuel Ohiri among others. (NAN)
