Minna, Sept. 25, 2017 ( NAN) The Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Sheik Ibrahim Fari, on Monday admonished the country’s elected leaders to always discharge their constitutional responsibilities with the fear of God.
Fari told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that only by so doing would the dividends of democracy be provided to the governed, irrespective of political differences.
He said that the desired political change would only be possible if the leaders would shun corruption.
The cleric reminded them that they would one day give account of their style of leadership before God.
“We should forget about our religious, tribal, ethnic and political differences and be prayerful for God’s intervention in our socio-cultural, economic and political activities,” he said.
He said that the time had come for Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations, to seek divine intervention for the turnaround of the nation’s economy for the better.
“We should also be prayerful in this period of threats to our nation’s hard-earned unity, insurgency, militancy, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other acts capable of tempering with our peaceful coexistence,” he said.
According to him, through fervent prayers, the lost glory, virtues and dignity of Nigeria will be restored.
The cleric was also of the opinion that the followers’ goodwill would pave way for leaders to fashion out plausible policies and programmes that would ensure good governance. (NAN)
