“China remains committed to innovation-driven sustainable growth,” the envoy said at a commemorative event marking the World Intellectual Property Day 2017.

The UN co-sponsored commemorative event was organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to mark the World Intellectual Property (IP) Day on April 26.

Liu stated that creation and innovation had been the beacon for human civilization and the fountain nurturing human progress.

“Thanks to innovation, our lives have been transformed.

He said that China had incorporated the 2030 Agenda in the country’s 13th Five-Year Socio-economic Development Programme.

He added that his country had also set the course of pursuing innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development.

“China has also launched the campaign of “Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” which entails a package of measures and policies to encourage creativity and entrepreneurship on an unprecedented scale.

“We are building a national system of technological and institutional innovation, to integrate science and technology into economic and social development.

“We are also working to convert research into development and to foster new drivers of development,” the envoy added.

The theme of the 2017 World IP Day is “Innovation Improving Lives,” with particular focus on women as innovators and beneficiaries of innovation for socio-economic development. (Xinhua/NAN)
