Children’s Day: Religious scholars admonish parents to be role models

Abuja, May 27, 2018(NAN) In commemoration of Children’s Day, religious leaders have admonished parents and guidance to live exemplary lives and be role models to their children to enable them have good morals and character.
The religious leaders, who gave the advice in different interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, in Abuja said “children are God’s property and a reward to their parents”.
Pastor Wale Afelumo, the Lead Pastor of Inspiration Life Community Church (ILCC), Abuja described children as God’s priceless gift and reflection of His innocence and purity.
He said children were valuable, they were the legacy and the future of every family and the country at large.
He therefore urged parents and guidance to invest in their future and education.
“Parents should to be the mirror through which each child sees his future, they should model to them what they want them to be in morals and character.
“Our children interpret life through us the parents, so we need to teach and mentor them, living lives that show kindness, love, respect and a life of content not of greed.
“Every child is a priceless and originally created, needing love and attention with so much hopes and expectations, therefore we parents must pay attention to them and make the right investments,’’ he said.
Hajia Fauziya Tauheed, an Islamic teacher said “noble” children were the result of wisdom from the Prophet Mohammad.
“That is why the Prohpet recommended that young men who want to marry should majorly go piety, this is to prevent corruption in future generation,” she said.
Tauheed added that Islam teachings had admonished parents to invest in their children.
“ It says, Plant the seed of faith in your children and you will reap the reward even in the grave.
“Produce good children as they are the living messages to the next generation,’’ she added. (NAN)
