Abuja, May 27, 2017 (NAN) Mrs Anna Dantani, the Wife of Pana Community Leader in the FCT has commended the Blessing Bassey Foundation, an NGO, for identifying with children of the community to mark the 2017 Children’s Day.
Dantani gave the commendation on Saturday in Pana village of the Abuja Municipal Area Council at an event to mark the 2017 Children’s Day organised by the NGO.
She said the programme, organised to give the children sense of belonging during the celebration, was a step in the right direction.
“Today is really not a dull moment for children of this community as you can see and we are really happy with the organisers of this event.
“It all started in 2016 when the NGO came to inform us that they want to identify with the children of the community to mark the Children’s Day.
“Just like what you are seeing, the 2016 celebration was also very glorious and we are really happy with the foundation for identifying with our children,” she said.
The wife of the community leader, therefore, called on well-meaning Nigerians and other NGOs to emulate the foundation by identifying with children during celebrations like the Children’s Day.
Mrs Blessing Archibong, the Founder of the NGO, said the event was organised out of her passion to identify with children, particularly the less privileged.
Archibong said the 2017 edition of the celebration was packaged to encourage and to identify with the children.
“As you can see, we have succeeded in incorporating education into fun; the competition segment of the event has been completed.
“The children are happy and the idea is to identify and ensure that those that have flair for learning are mentored to be become better citizens of Nigeria,” she said. (NAN)
