Lagos, Jan. 23, 2017 (NAN) In its bid to use culture to fight corruption, the Centre for Black Arts and African Civilisation(CBAAC)  will in April  launch a book entitled: “ Nigerian Traditional Ethics.’’

Dr Ferdinand Anikwe, the Director General, Centre for Black Arts and Africa Civilisation told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that the centre had visited almost all the traditional rulers in the country.

He said this was to tap from their knowledge of cultural practices before the colonial age which had positively groomed people’s behavioural pattern in the rural setting.

According to him, the centre’s findings will  be compiled in a book for readers to access and appreciate while proffering solutions to the nation’s challenge of corruption.

He said that before the arrival of the colonial masters, Nigerians were living in an organised society devoid of corruption.

Anikwe also  noted that the fundamental rules every Nigerian was brought up with must be re-addressed and upheld to fight corruption

He said findings revealed that the development of capitalism by the colonial masters gave birth to corruption.

” We have seen the Ooni of Ife, Sultan of Sokoto, Attah of Igala, Oba of Benin, Udo Udoma, Alafin of Oyo and a host of other kings who have educated us about what was obtainable before the arrival of the colonial masters.

” The book will be edited by Prof.  Hyginus Ekwuazi of University of Ibadan and launched during the opening ceremony of Festac77 @ 40 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja,  on April 1.

” Cultural programmes that fought against corruption had been identified and traditional norms guiding rural settlements would be espoused to guide urban areas,” he said.(NAN)
