Abuja, Jan. 3, 2018 (NAN) The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar on Wednesday conferred meritorious awards on officers who have distinguished themselves in various areas in the service

Abubakar, while presenting the awards to the officers at the annual CAS Awards/Workshop for Field Commanders at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, said they could not afford to lose steam in the course of carrying out their duties.

The CAS said that the award was in recognition of their contributions toward the actualisation of the service key objectives.

According to him, the recognition calls for more responsibility and trust.

“I urge you to keep moving and carry your colleagues along in the spirit of togetherness that the military is known for.

“Let us not forget others that are not in the highlight at this very moment. Their contributions to the progress of NAF will not go unsaluted,’’ he said

Abubakar advised those who were not given award to see it as motivation, adding that they should not despair because it was glaring that NAF could not had achieved anything meaningful without the collective efforts of everybody.

On the workshop, Abubakar said that it was aimed at equipping the newly promoted personnel, and others of their responsibilities in line with expectations.

He urged them to use the lessons learnt from the workshop to ensure effective discharge of their responsibilities.

One of the awardees, Air Commodore, Austin Imafidon, the Director-General, Research, NAF Research Centre, Kaduna State, expressed delight at the award given to him, saying it was well deserved.

Imafidon attributed his success to hard work and dedication, saying that whenever he embarked on any research work, achievement was always his watchword, rather than material gains.

“If material gains are your top most priority as you embark on any research work, you can never achieve anything tangible.

“Let your mind be occupied with what you are going to achieve first then any other thing can follow,’’ he said.

He advised officers to focus on making positive impact in the society or wherever they found themselves instead of pursing material gains. (NAN)
