Lagos, Dec. 15, 2016 (NAN) A car dealer, Alfred Bamigbose, 40, was on Thursday arraigned in Lagos for allegedly defrauding his friend of N1.3 million under the pretext of helping to buy a jeep for the friend.
The accused, who appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court is facing a two-count charge of fraudulent conversion of money and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ben Ekundayo, told court that the accused on Sept. 27, 2015 at Badore in Ajah, Lagos, obtained N1.3million from one Augustine Moses.
He said that the accused obtained the money on false pretence of helping Moses to purchase a vehicle but converted the money to his own use.
The offences contravened Sections 312 (6) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr Ade Adefulire, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that one of the sureties must show evidence of owning a car and the other must show evidence of owning a landed property.
Adefulire adjourned the case to Dec. 19 for mention. (NAN)
