Port Harcourt, Jan. 8, 2017 (NAN) The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) has commenced repairs on faulty 15MVA power transformer which left some parts of the state and its environs in darkness.
A statement by the company’s spokesman, Mr John Onyi, and made available to newsmen on Sunday said the power outage affected Calabar inner city centre and suburban towns in the state.
“PHED wishes to notify customers feeding from Essien 2 and industrial feeders in Calabar that the outage being experienced in the last two days (Friday) is due to faulty facility.
“The faulty facility affected is the 15MVA power transformer at the Transmission Station.
“The areas affected by the power loss, include Essien town, spring Road, Diamond Hill, Calabar Road, Barrack Road, Big Qua and some parts of the State Housing Estate.
“Other areas are Parliamentary; Parliamentary Extension and Iyata,’’ he said.
Onyi said that technical crew from the Transmission Company of Nigeria have since been mobilised to site for repairs of the damaged transformer.
He appealed to customers to bear with the company for the inconvenience the outage might have cause then, adding that power supply would be restored immediately the repair work was concluded. (NAN)
