Bwari (Abuja) July 31, 2018 (NAN) The Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Mr Musa Dikko, on Tuesday pledged to motivate both teachers and parents to ensure that more children are enrolled in schools to access knowledge.
Dikko made the pledge while speaking to newsmen at an event of match past and display of cultural dance by various schools, organised by the area council in Abuja.
Dikko said that the council is doing its best to give more support toward providing quality and improved education to pupils in the district.
According to him, the area council will put necessary measures in place to boost learning environment and school enrolment.
“Our plan is to provide quality education to the children so that they can make the country a better place because, as the saying goes, no youth, no nation.
” The responsibility of catering for these children, especially that of the Primary schools, is saddled with the Primary Education Board.
” However, the council has put intervention measures in place through various donations of learning materials such as desks, books and the likes to encourage them.
” We have also assisted some other schools to construct fences round their school environment to make it secured and conducive for learning,” he said.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Local Education Authority, Bwari, Mr Ayuba Solomon told newsmen that his office will work hand in hand with the area council to meet the education needs of the people.
He said that it remained the duty of the Education Board to ensure that teachers are on the field to do the right thing and make necessary impact on the children and the country at large.
Some children, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews, urged government at all levels to increase efforts toward ensuring all children are given the right to education.
Buba Samaila, a pupil, urged the government to provide more infrastructure to schools at the grassroots, adding that more children should be sent to school for free, as not all parents could afford it.
Another pupil, Susan Udoh, said that there was need for the government to provide quality Library facilities in schools, especially those schools situated at the local areas.
“These facilities should not be too far away from us as we are also in need of information provided through the libraries, ” she said. (NAN)
