Businessman in court over alleged N12m fraud

Abuja, Jan. 25, 2018 (NAN ) The Police on Thursday arraigned a businessman, Katlong Dashwep, in an FCT High Court, Maitama, charged with defrauding one Bayo Ayorinde of N12million.
The defendant, who was arraigned on a count charge bordering on intent to defraud, denied committing the offence.
The judge, Justice Jude Okeke, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N15million and a surety in like sum.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr Benjamin Manji, had told the court that on Oct. 30, 2015 in Abuja, the defendant allegedly defrauded Ayorinde of N12 million.
He said Dashwep under false pretext, got a contract from Tetfund and agreed to sell it to Ayorinde for 12million.
Ayorinde used his company account, Pomarb Resources Nigeria Ltd account to pay Dashwep the said amount.
The offence is contrary to Section 1 (2) (a) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
