Business man docked for allegedly receiving stolen property

Abuja, May 18, 2017 (NAN) A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court on Thursday in Abuja arraigned a businessman, Ezekiel David, 38, for allegedly​receiving stolen property.

David is standing trial on a charge of receiving stolen property.

The Prosecutor, Mr Gambo Musa, told court that one Paul Sunday of Jabi, Abuja reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on May 8.

Musa said that the accused bought two coils of 10mm electrical wires 6mm wires from one Reuben Basi, knowing that it was stolen.

The prosecutor said that during investigation it was discovered that the defendant sold one of the coils.

He said that the offence contravened Section 319 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His Counsel, Mr John Ani, applied for his bail, assuring court that the defendant would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mr Teribo Jim, granted David bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.

Jim said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case till June 14 for hearing. (NAN)
