Kano, Jan. 16, 2017 (NAN) The International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Bayero University Kano, is to hold the third International Conference on Islamic Banking and Finance on Thursday.
The conference is being organised in collaboration with the Islamic Research and Training Institute, a subsidiary of Islamic Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Director of the Institute, Prof Binta Tijjani, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Monday in Kano.
She said the institute had completed necessary arrangements for the successful hosting of the conference.
“This is the third time we are holding similar conference, but this year’s edition will be different as we are expecting many guests, including leading international scholars as well as academics from across the globe.”
According to her, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi, is expected to deliver a keynote address during the occasion.
She said no fewer than 83 papers were also expected to be delivered and discussed during the three-day conference.
She disclosed that participants were expected to come from Saudi Arabia, America, Malaysia, Egypt, Morocco and Pakistan, among others.
Tijjani expressed the hope that the conference would serve as an avenue to create the awareness on the operations of Islamic Banking and Finance.
“We are left behind in the sector due to lack of adequate knowledge and awareness, hence our decision to hold such conference.”(NAN).
