Lagos, July 12, 2017 (NAN) Atobajeun Gbolahan, an upcoming secular “Afro-pop” artiste with the stage name “Suavé,” says poor funding is limiting the progress of artists in the country.

Gbolahan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the country is blessed with talented artists, who have what it takes to make good music.

“The most challenging part of being a musician is the funding aspect of it because you need enough funds to push your music out there for people to accept.

“The good thing about music is that everybody has a market to sell his or her kind of music, but without funding, an artist will not get the required result.

“There are other challenges as well but they can be easily tackled unlike the lack of fund,’’ he said.

Suave urged the government to increase its support to the entertainment industry as an avenue to engage youths and increase its revenue.

“Of recent, government is showing interest in the entertainment industry but there is the need to step it up to engage teeming youth and to boost the economy,’’ he said.

On his future plans, Suave told NAN that his aim was to get to the peak of his career and impact his generation through music.

“I have a lot to offer as far as music is concern, in the next five years my aim and ambition is to be one of the top five artists in the country,’’ he said. (NAN)
