Abuja, May 22, 2018 (NAN)The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been awarded three International Standard Organisation (ISO) by the British Standards Institute (BSI).
Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, NDIC’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs, said this in statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Ibrahim, NDIC is the first public sector organisation in Nigeria that has been awarded three ISO certifications by the BSI simultaneously.
He said the Lead Trade Adviser for Education Sector Opportunities of the commission, Ms. Natasha Anjekwu presented the certificates to the Corporation in Abuja.
The three certifications achieved by NDIC are on Information Security Management System ISO/IEC 27001:2013, IT Service Management System ISO/IEC 200001:2011 and Business Continuity Management System ISO22301:2012.
Anjekwu described the feat as a great achievement, saying “NDIC’s fulfilment of the requirements bore eloquent testimony to its adherence to international best practice in its operations”.
Mrs Nnenna Akajameli, National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM Office in the Presidency, expressed her delight at the development.
She urged the Corporation to view the certifications as its most valuable assets which should spur it to greater performance.
Akajameli said the SERVICOM Office would project the NDIC as a model to other public institutions in its efforts to optimise service delivery among public institutions in Nigeria.
Also the Director of Home Finance in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Olubunmi Siyanbola, lauded the Corporation and urged it to view the development as a spur towards achieving greater heights.
Responding, the Managing Director of NDIC, Mr Umaru Ibrahim reiterated the commitment of the Corporation to lead in addressing the challenges of the financial services industry in Nigeria.
Ibrahim said this would be done with a view to engendering professionalism and accountability.
The NDIC boss said that the feat was consistent with the implementation of its renewable 5-year strategic plan.
He reiterated NDIC’s desire to be the best deposit insurer in the world by 2020 and pledged the Corporation’s commitment to maintain the standard it had set for itself.
Ibrahim said that the certification would ensure improved information deliverables, availability and efficient services and effective communication in the Corporation.
“It will also ensure a sound internal processes that will further engender public confidence in the banking system for financial system stability.” (NAN)
