Bricklayer arraigned for allegedly destroying students’ books, tables

Abuja, Sept. 11, 2018, (NAN) A 21-year-old bricklayer, Amos David, was on Tuesday docked in a Lugbe Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly destroying students’ books, table and chairs.
David, a resident of Tudunwada village, Lugbe, Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, mischief and attempt to commit an offence.

The prosecutor, Mrs Ukoha Ndidi, told the court that one Okwonko Udochi of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Lugbe reported the matter at the Lugbe Police Station on Aug. 27.

Ndidi said that on Aug. 26, the accused broke into the classroom of Iland Knowledge Private School, Zhidu, Lugbe, through the ceiling and destroyed tables and chairs.

The prosecutor said the accused also destroyed students’ books by spreading them on the floor and slept on them.

He said the offences contravened Sections 348, 327 and 95 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Idharhi Samuel, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 10 for hearing. (NAN)
