Minna, Jan‎. 19, 2017 (NAN) The Bosso Local Government and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), has spent more than N5 million to cater for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the area, according to an official.

Alhaji Isah Wakili, Chairman, Bosso Local Government, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Minna, said that the expenditure was within the seven days the IDPS spent on transit to the homes.

“The money was sunk into logistics, feeding and the fueling of security vehicles,” he said.‎

The official said that the  IDPs had already returned to their homes.

“They were able to return to their respective homes with the help of security men drafted to the affected areas.

“We have encouraged and supported them to go back to their destroyed homes while we take inventory of the damage done by the attackers,” he said.

He said that officials had been assigned to obtain details of the destruction for possible compensation.

Wakili called on organisations and stakeholders to come to  the aid of the IDPs as government alone may not do much.

“They are really in need of food items and clothing; their properties have being lost to the attacks,” Wakil  said.

NAN reports that many communities were sacked by attackers following weeks of communal crises in the area. (NAN)
