Lagos, Jan. 17, 2017 (NAN) Students, under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), have condemned the terrorists’ attack, which killed a professor and three others at the University of Maiduguri.
The Chairman of NANS, Lagos State Chapter, Mr Samson Moses, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that one of the two bomb explosions occurred in the University mosque on Monday morning in Maiduguri when Muslims were offering Subhi (Morning Prayer).
The explosion, allegedly carried out by a seven-year-old suicide bomber, killed herself, Prof. Aliyu Mani, who served as the Director, Veterinary Services of the institution and two others.
According to NANS, the development is unfortunate, coming when the entire tertiary institutions in the North East are celebrating the return of peace on campuses.
“This is a sign that the war is not over yet.
“We need not rest on our oars until we can sleep with our two eyes closed.
“However, we commend President Muhammadu Buhari for efforts so far made to flush out these elements out of the entire country.
“We think there is need to ensure that everywhere in the country is secured.
“While condemning the bombing, students across campuses in Lagos State should observe a moment of silence to mourn the deceased,’’ Moses said. (NAN)
