Yenagoa, Jan. 24, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa on Tuesday handed over four armoured vehicles to the police in the state.
Dickson, who performed the handing over in Yenagoa, said the donation of the vehicles was part of government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
The governor also said the donation was in line with the state government’s plan to entrench a system that would provide social security and promote safety, especially in schools.
He further pledged support for the operations of other security agencies in the state and urged the state police command to step up plan to achieve a free-crime society.
“We have plans to set up the Education Safety Corps in the eight local government areas in the state.
“This is so that when we finish the rebuilding of the modern schools, safety will be assured to the school children even in the rural areas.
“I urge you, members of the police force, to make good use of the vehicles; I want you to use them to flush out criminals in the state; we are ready to take the safety of our state to the highest level.
“Finally, I commend the work of all the security agencies in the state, we will continue to plan ahead to ensure a more safe environment for the people,” Dickson said.
