Bauchi, June 8,2017 (NAN) The Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious and Community Affairs, Alhaji Baba Madugu, has called for the enactment of a law in the state regulating the siting of places of worship and graveyards.
Briefing newsmen in Bauchi Thursday on the activities of his ministry, the commissioner said such law would provide backing for his ministry in its effort at ensuring sanity.
He said his ministry would commence registration of places of worships in the state to enable it secure data for planning purposes.
Speaking on this year’s Ramadan Fast, Madugu said the state had earmarked N25million for the feeding of less privileged worshippers in 255 mosques across the state.
He said that it was expected that each mosque would feed 100 people during the period.
Also briefing newsmen on Thursday, State Commission for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs Asabe Hamma, said N34 million had been earmarked for the purchase of clothing materials and food items for distribution to women across 130 Women Preaching centres (Tafsir) across the state. (NAN)
