Lagos, July 21, 2017 (NAN) Mojubaoluwa Oyeleye, a player in Kwara Falcons Basketball Club of Ilorin, on Friday said that moving from Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan to his present club had placed greater responsibilities on him.

Oyeleye, who switched to the Ilorin team in the ongoing 2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League, was highly instrumental to Falcons edging past Nigeria Air Force Rocket of Lagos 81-64.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the conclusion of their match in Lagos that he had worked hard to contribute to the success of his team.

“I am happy at my new club, Falcons; I have worked hard to fit into the role of a small forward which requires a lot of running and more of offensive play.

“The expectations and standard of ball play at Falcons is also very high as the target is always to challenge for the conference title and securing a continental ticket.

“However, with other quality players and Adewunmi Aderemi directing the affairs of the coaching crew, we are confident of emerging conference champions and securing a continental ticket,’’ Oyeleye said.

He recorded a total of 17 minutes ball play to help his team defeat hard fighting Air Force Rockets.

As Falcons play another tough opponent, Hoops and Read Basketball Club of Lagos on Saturday, Oyeleye said he was unfazed with the challenge.

“We will play another tougher opposition on Saturday, we are aware of Hoops and Read determination to emerge conference champions but we are not intimidated about their ambition.

“We defeated them on two occasions while we lost once to them in our previous meets, so we are confident of getting another win against them,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, the multitalented Hoops and Read team cannot be jettisoned though the team is barely a year in the elite basketball terrain and already warmed the Lagos fans with their heroics.

Hoops and Read defeated visiting Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan 63-53 in an entreating match played at the National Stadium, Lagos.

The combination of Emilagba Bolaji, Edward David and Komonibo Victor recorded 10, 11 and 15 points respectively to ensure their offensive play counted at the end of the game.

Charles Oshos, the Head coach of the Hoops and Read team, told NAN that working with his players had been fantastic.

“It has been a wonderful time working with the present crop of players who in majority are featuring in the league for the first time.

“We have also adopted a wonderful rotational system of ball play not to tire or overwork each one of them.

“We set our target on getting a continental ticket at the end of the campaign and so we have to keep working hard,’’ Osho said. (NAN)
