Bauchi, May 23, 2018 (NAN) Bauchi State Government on Wednesday warned land speculators in the state to refrain from defrauding innocent people or face the full wrath of the law.

Mr Baba Sulaiman, Director General (D-G) of the State Geographic Information System (BAGIS), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi that the warning had become necessary in view of the increasing dubious activities of some land agents.

According to him, there are cases of dubious deals that have resulted in the defrauding of innocent buyers.

‎”This administration is not ready to tolerate any shoddy land deals by agents in the state; we have prohibited illegal activities in respect of selling and buying of land in the state.
‎
“Any body found engaging in the act, will have himself or herself to blame,” he warned.

Sulaiman also advised prospective buyers of land to be wary of the speculators, lest they got defrauded.
‎
“Some prospective land buyers get into trouble because they listen to deceitful words from dubious agents.

“Anyone interested in buying land should come to the authorities concerned,” he said.
‎
The D-G also said his unit would commence registration of land vendors and property, to restore sanity to the system and ensure transparency in deals.(NAN)‎
