Bauchi, Oct.24,2017 (NAN) Bauchi state government on Tuesday organised a two-day anti-corruption summit for its civil servants, warning that its position of ‘zero tolerance for corruption’ remained unchanged.
Gov. Mohammed Abubakar who issued the warning during the opening ceremony of the summit, said the civil service was the engine room for governance, as such his administration was determined to ensure that it (civil service) was not dented by unwholesome acts.
According to him, government has introduced some measures to maintain discipline in the system for good governance, saying the summit would remind civil servants that the ‘anti-corruption posture’ of the state government still subsisted.
He commended ICPC and other anti-graft agencies for supporting the government in ensuring transparency and accountability in the system.
The governor said training, seminars and workshops, were very essentials for staff development, as well as promoting good governance.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Head of Service, Alhaji Liman Bello, said 450 participants were expected to benefit from the workshop.
In his speech, the Provost, Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Prof Sola Akinrinade, said Bauchi State was the first to key into the Anti-Corruption summit, noting that the state government had gone beyond rhetoric in its fight against corruption.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the summit was organised in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) (NAN)
