Lagos, April 25, 2018 (NAN) A 32-year-old barber, Roy Ojeaga, who allegedly defiled an eight-year-old girl, was on Wednesday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Ojeaga, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of sexual assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty of the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 31 at about 5.00 p.m. at Ilaje Road, Bariga.
He alleged that the accused had sexually assaulted the girl who had gone to his shop to have a haircut.
“He bolted the door and asked the girl to fondle his private part and the rest of his body” he said.
Uwadione said that the girl told her mother what had transpired at the shop and the accused was arrested for further questioning.
The offence contravened Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, remanded the accused in prison and said the case file should be sent to the Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja.
She adjourned the case until May 3 for mention. (NAN)
