Bank donates N200,000 cash to journalist

Abuja, March 27, 2017 (NAN) Fortis Micro Finance Bank, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, has presented a N200,000 cash donation to a journalist, Mr Obi Adele, to support his surgery in Mumbai.
Mr Tiko Okoye, the Managing Director of the bank, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the institution was an advocate for corporate social responsibility.
According to him, Okoye, a Communications Consultant with decades of experience, has suffered some illness arising from acute diabetic complications.
“For the past two years, he has been undergoing dialysis at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and the medical expenditure from this adversely affected his resources
” Adiele finally got a kidney donor after waiting for many years, and is now scheduled to go to Mumbai for a transplant.
“Late February 2017, Adiele approached the board of this institution and in response to his plea for financial assistance, the board acceded and presented a cheque to him.
The cheque for the amount was donated to the beneficiary in Abuja.
“FortisMFB is an advocate of corporate social responsibility, therefore, while remaining a profitable and sustainable business, it is imperative that we give back to the community in every way possible.”
NAN reports that the bank had, in the past, donated grants to women groups and paid school fees for some students.(NAN)
