Bail: Suspected restaurant burglar remanded in prison

Ile-Ife (Osun), Aug. 15, 2017 (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Tuesday remanded in prison a man, Ojo Taiwo, charged with breaking into a restaurant and stealing meat and wines worth N150,000, pending the perfection of his bail.

Taiwo, 50, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi, had granted the accused N50, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.

Olayemi said the surety should be a house owner with title documents within the court’s jurisdiction or a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 03, who must present his letter of appointment, letter of promotion and national ID card.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdulahi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 13 at 12.00 a.m. at Sabo area of Ile-Ife.

According to him, the accused broke into a restaurant belonging to the complainant, Mr Felix Towobola and carted away dry fish,  meat and assorted wines, all valued at N150,000.

The offences contravened Sections 390 (10a) and 411 of the Criminal Code, Laws Osun, 2003.

The case was adjourned until Sept 4 for hearing. (NAN)
