Ikeja, July 16, 2018 (NAN) A 33-year-old auto mechanic, Babatunde Oladiran, was on Monday in Lagos brought before an Ikeja
Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a Toyota Camry valued at N400, 000.
Oladiran had driven the car to somewhere in Ogun given to him by Mr Olusegun Oladipupo, the complainant, to repair and while
on his way, the car was involved in an accident.
According to the Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offence on June 17 at Dopemu in Agege, a Lagos
suburb.
He said the accused damaged the car valued at N400, 000 belonging to Oladipupo.
“The accused drove the complainant’s vehicle meant for repair to Ogun without his consent and the vehicle had an accident.
“He abandoned the car in Ogun and came back to Lagos to tell the owner what has happened to his car.
“The complainant reported the case to the police which led to the accused’s arrest, ” the prosecutor said.
The offence contravened Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section provides two years jail term for offenders.
Oladiran, who resides at Mangoro, Agege, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties.
Osunsanmi said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos
State Government as part of the bail condition.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 13. (NAN)
