Police nab 4 suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in KadunaArrestBy Muhammad TijjaniKaduna, June. 13, 2024(NAN) The Police Command in Kaduna State, said its operatives have arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued kidnapped victims in Kaduna.The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday in KadunaHassan said, “On June 11, at about 0500 hours, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maigana received a distress call from Yakasai village, that one Abubakar Sale, also from Yakasai had been kidnapped there by unknown gunmen.”He said upon receiving this information, the DPO led a combined team of Policemen and the members of a vigilance group to the scene.“The team tracked the bandits from Yakasai to Awai village, where they found the victims in a hut, unharmed.”According to him, although the criminals tried to flee, the police successfully arrested two suspects.He identified the suspects as Abdulmumini Auta, 60 and Garba Shehu, 30, both from Yakasai village.Additionally, Hassan said that seven suspected rustled cows were recovered from the suspects while investigations into the case were currently ongoing.He also disclosed that on June 12, at about 11:45 hours, a team of officers from the Zaria City Division, acting on intelligence, intercepted and arrested one Ibrahim Sa’idu, 35, of Kadage, Giwa Local Government Area.Also, they nabbed one Hayatu Sa’idu, 35, of Rafin Yashe, Zaria Local Government Area, near the Gwargwaje by Galadimawa Junction.He explained that a search was conducted on the suspects which led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol with two rounds of live ammunition in Sa’idu’s possession.Hassan said all the cases were under Investigation and the suspects would be charged to Court after completion.He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Audu Dabigi, urgeds all the citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)TJ/BRM===========Edited by Bashir Rabe ManiKaduna:Troops neutralise terrorists’ kingpin, Buharin Yadi, others

Kaduna, Jun. 13, 2024(NAN) The Kaduna State Government, said troops of Sector 6, Operation Whirl Punch, have killed a terrorists’ kingpin, Buharin Yadi, along with dozens of his fighters .
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna.
Aruwan said, “The infamous terrorist Buharin Yadi, one of the deadliest bandit leaders terrorising northern Nigeria in the last decade, has met his bitter end at the hands of security forces.
“The troops of Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch rained down fire on the kingpin known as Buhari Alhaji Halidu (alias Buharin Yadi) and his cohorts, abruptly terminating their ignominious spell of terror.
“Halidu was neutralised in a fierce battle with the troops under the coordination of their Commander, General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso.
“This took place around Idasu forest at the boundaries between Giwa Local Government Area(LGA) of Kaduna State and Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.”
He said the troops began the covert operation in response to intelligence reports on terrorists’ movement from Samunaka and Saulawa areas of Katsina State.
“On advancing to Samunaka, the troops found the settlement destroyed and cattle killed, evidence of recent criminal activity by the bandits.
“A ferocious battle quickly followed, as approaching terrorists were pounded with artillery rounds at Hayin Almajiri, “he said.
Aruwan said that the troops then fought bravely through an ambush, to attain their objective.
He said, “Initial assessments indicated that at least 36 bandits were eliminated in the engagement.
“It was eventually verified that one of those neutralised was Buharin Yadi.”
He explained that Yadi and his brigands under his command had been unleashing terror on citizens in Kidandan/Galadimawa areas of Giwa LGA.
He named other areas that had been attacked by the fallen terrorists to include Sabon Birni/Kerawa areas of Igabi LGA, communities nearby Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State, and some parts of Niger and Zamfara.
Aruwan said Yadi was involved in large-scale cattle rustling, arms trading and drug trafficking.
“He had led his gang in the pillaging of communities and the slaughter and kidnapping of thousands of citizens in Kaduna and neighboring states.
“The merciless bandit was also known to have links with other deadly terrorist groups in the Northeast and North-West.
“The breakthrough brings to an end a manhunt by security forces for this terrorist, which stretched more than five years.
“The news of his demise spread like wildfire, triggering massive relief and widespread celebrations among locals spanning Kaduna and Katsina States, “he said.
Aruwan said Gov. Uba Sani has expressed his elation at the development, which he described as a pointer to the bravery, pro-activeness and sheer efficiency of the troops involved.
He quoted the Governor as commending Saraso for his sterling leadership and lauded the troops for the comprehensive victory.
Sani reassured the security forces in the state of his unflinching support and the continued collaborative stance of the government
“Members of the public are hereby informed that some of the terrorists sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.
” Citizens in the general area and beyond are therefore enjoined not to render assistance (medical or otherwise) to individuals carrying suspicious injuries, but to immediately report such to security agencies, “Aruwan said.
He said the Kaduna State Security Operations Room was available 24-hour a day to receive reports of this nature on the phone lines: 09034000060 and 08170189999.
While the Commissioner said that special operations against bandits was continuing in the general area, he urged the citizens to continue to volunteer supportive information to the security forces and the government.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Green Beret FC wins, 1 Div. football for peace tournamentCompetitionBy Muhammad TijjaniKaduna, June. 9, 2024(NAN)The Green Beret Nigerian Army Football Team, on Sunday emerged winners of 1Division Nigerian Army Football for Peace Tournament 2024 after a penalty shootout.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), report that the football tournament began on Friday with four football clubs, which included ,Simoiben Football Club , Kachia United Football Club , Green Beret Football Club andBirnin Gwari United Football Club.NAN reports that the football tournament was a collaboration between 1 Division Nigerian Army with Simoiben Football Academy Kaduna, with the aim of uniting the youths and communities through sports.The Green Beret Nigerian Army FC beat Simoiben FC in a penalty shootout 12 to 11 , to win the tournament.While in third position , Kachia United beat Birnin Gwari United FC also in penalty shootout 4 to 3 respectively .The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division Nigerian Army Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, said the decision to organize the football tournament for peace and security arose out of his visit to some communities in Kachai and Kajuru LGA of the state where there were security challenges.He said he went to the communities with the hope of providing some succour, working together with the community leaders, and members on how to address it.Sraso lamented that even among the communities, they were not living harmoniously.“Precisely, when I went to Cibiya, I discovered the communities were not living harmoniously..”They were divided into cibiya one and two in Kajuru LGA. These communities are not having any relationship at all.“Community members of Cibiya one cannot pass through Cibiya two to access the main road linking Kaduna and Kachai because of some accusations that they were partnering with bandits or criminals in the past,” he said.He, therefore, said in order to bring peace and security, the army needed to work together harmoniously with the communities to face the same adversaries.According to Saraso,, teey plan to organise more sporting events in collaboration with the leadership of both communities.He said that the youths who are the main targets and always the victims, needed to play more roles, hence bring them together through sporting activities. .Saraso said some of the players were from Kajuru, Kachia, and Giwa LGA, who come to join some of their counterparts from the Birnin Gwari axis where there was also a similar security challenge.He hoped that after the whole engagements and interactions within the three days, the bond and unity would go a long way. to bolster peace.Apart from such engagement being part of the Nigerian Army’s civil military relations, the GOC said they organise free medical outreaches, donation of either food items or carrying out Infrastructural development in communities that were largely impacted by insecurity.Going forward, he said that football, being a unifying sport that brings people together in Nigeria, they would exploit it for the essence of peace.He disclosed that they would continue with the football tournaments, where they would take it to the LGAs next time, instead of bringing it to Kaduna.The GOC urged the participants to take home the spirit of sportsmanship they exhibited in the tournament, explaining that they don’t need to bother on their differences but interact with each other.Group photograph of the Champion of 1 Division Nigerian Army Football for Peace Tournament 2024.In his remarks, Gov. Police nab 6 suspects, recover 5 vehicles in KadunaArrestBy Muhammad TijjaniKaduna, June 9, 2024(NAN) The Police Command in Kaduna State on Saturday said its operatives have arrested six suspects for committing various crimes, and also recovered five vehicles.The command’s spokesperson , ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Kaduna.Hassan said, “At about 0310 hours on Thursday, while conducting a routine patrol near the Agoro Level Crossing area, a team from the Tudun Wada Division in Zaria, intercepted a suspect identified as Babangida Sani, 37, from Faskari Local Government Area in Katsina State.“The suspect was traveling from Jos to Faskari and had boarded a commercial motorcycle en route the Flyover Garage.“During the search, the officers discovered an AK-47 rifle in the suspect’s possession.“The motorcyclist, upon witnessing the search, fled the scene but was promptly arrested and taken into custody by the officers,” he said.Hassan also disclosed that on Tuesday, at 1800 hours, the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the command’s Criminal Investigation Department acted swiftly on a tip-off and recovered two abandoned vehicles.They are: Toyota Matrix (Reg No: DKA 321 TT) and a Toyota Camry LE (Reg No: KGK 114 AA), in Mogadishu, Kaduna.He added that the following day, on Wednesday, at about 1215 hours, a white Toyota Hilux van (Reg No: GWA 845 CY), reported stolen from Karji Junction, was also recovered at Yazid Hotel on Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna.Hassan said, “Further investigations led to the arrest of three suspects: Sa’ad Abdullahi, Salihu Musa, and Usman Zubairu Ganu, all from Zamfara.“They were found in possession of two additional vehicles, a Honda Accord (Reg No: RBC 143 MQ) and a Mercedes Benz (Reg No: BKD 137 SB), also suspected to be stolen.”The spokesperson said on Wednesday, at about 2105 hours, the DPO Millennium City Division, received a report from the Sabon Gida vigilante group in Maraban Rido village, Sabo Area of Responsibility.Consequently, they arrested three armed men on a motorcycle seen heading through a known bandits’ route towards the Eastern Bypass.He said the suspects were suspected to be carrying concealed rifles.“Acting swiftly on this information, the DPO mobilised a combined team of police patrol officers, a military strike force, and local vigilantes.“An ambush was set at strategic locations, leading to the interception of the suspects near Kakura 2 Village along Umar Musa Yar’Adua Way.”Two of the suspects managed to escape, but the motorcycle rider, identified as Buhari Madaki, 26, was captured along with his motorcycle.“Upon questioning, Madaki was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for taking the dangerous route late at night,” Hassan said.He said a discreet investigation was ongoing on the incidents.Hassan said the Commissioner of Kaduna, Mr Ali Dabigi, has assured the public that the command remains committed to maintaining safety and security within the state.He also appreciated the cooperation of the public in these efforts.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)TJ/BRM===========Edited by Bashir Rabe ManiCOAS to soldiers : Be creative in tackling security challenges

NDLEA nabs 110 suspects, recovers 520.385kgs illicit drugs in KadunaSeizuresBy Muhammad TijjaniKaduna, June. 7, 2024(NAN) The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command, said its operatives have arrested 110 suspects and recovered 520.385kgs of illicit substances in the month of May.Its Commander, Mr Samaila Danmalam, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna.Danmalam said, “The command in the month of May arrested 110 suspects comprising 105 males and five females.”He disclosed that the agency also seized various illicit substances that included cocaine, Indian hemp, Tramadol and Methamphetamine, among others, weighing 520.385kgs .Danamalam added that 10 illicit drug joints were dismantled in the state.The commander said that the command secured the conviction of 12 suspects and arraigned 22 others within the month under review.He explained that in its efforts to combat the drug scourge in the state through drug demand reduction activities, the command carried out numerous sensitization programmes across the state.“This was with the aim of enlightening the citizenry on the ills associated with drug use and illicit trafficking while simultaneously counselling and rehabilitation of drug dependent persons,” he added.Danmalam appealed to the public to shun illicit drug activities and trafficking.He urged the citizens to provide useful and timely information to assist the command in carrying out its mandate in the state.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)TJ/NRM=============Edited by Bashir Rabe ManiClimate change: NDA committed to good management of environment – Commandant

John Ochai, said this on Wednesday at the NDA Headquarters in Afaka, Kaduna, while speaking to newsmen after a mini marathon titled “Run for Green”, organised in commemoration of the 2024 World Environment Day.Ochai said that the NDA, being a responsible institution in the eyes of Nigerians and the nation at large, was maintaining a good and sustainable environment aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.He explained that they choose the theme for their celebration as “Run for Green”, considering their training schedule and the need to keep fit.“We inculcate the habit of keeping fit in our cadets. Being physically fit is a premium for training in the NDA, one must be fit to perform the role of defending the nation,”he said.He said that “Run for Green” also was in furtherance of a green environment.Ochai recalled that some days ago, the NDA launched its biodiversity and conservation centre, which was aimed at regenerating the environment.He stressed that the green revolution was on the NDA’s agenda, where it would plant one million trees.According to him, the one million trees could be a record of the biggest concentration of human efforts in regenerating the environment.The commandant said the exercise was also to encourage the institution’s partners and host communities to also advance the cause of a green environment and maintain healthy lifestyles by exercising to keep fit and avoid illnesses.From the right the NDA Commandant Maj.-Gen. The Chief of Accounts and Budget, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, gave the charge at the 1 Division Finance Training Week 2024 in Kaduna.
Fayemiwo, represented by Chief of Staff, 1 Division Brig.-Gen. David Nwakonobi, said this would ensure that financial services were rendered to all the Nigerian Army personnel as well as units and formations at the right time and place.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the training Week is ‘Enhancing Capacity and Skills of 1 Division Finance Officers/Clerks for Proactive and Efficient Delivery of Financial Services to 1 Division Nigerian Army”.
He stressed that the Nigerian Army finance personnel were to conform to the extant regulations and above all, remain professional in their conduct as military personnel.
“To ensure this, I have made it mandatory to all Nigerian Army Finance personnel to be adequately trained to carry out their duties at all levels,” he said.
Fayemiwo explained that the training was one of the pillars of the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy, which is “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well- trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Joint Environment”.
According to him, the division’s finance training week was designed to address the training needs of Finance officers and soldiers at the division level.
Fayemiwo said, ”It will provide a good platform for updating personnel on contemporary government financial policies, financial best practices and their implications on accounting for Nigerian Army funds.
“This training week will focus on enhancing the capacity of 1 Division Finance personnel in rendering professional and efficient financial services to the Nigerian Army.”
He added that the duties and responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps were central to the performance and effectiveness of the Nigerian Army both in war and peace times.
“In pursuit of my training objectives for Year 2024, I directed all Division Finance Offices to conduct a Division Finance training week to address the training needs of their personnel,” he said.
The finance chief enjoined all the participants to be actively involved in the training sessions to derive maximum benefit from it.
Fayemiwo appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja for approving the training week and providing the resources required for its conduct.
Earlier, the Commander, 1 Division Finance and Accounts, Brig.-Gen. Adamu Kitchener, said the training was an initiative of the Chief of Accounts and Budget Army.
Kitchener said the training was to enhance development, Professionalism and improve the skills and knowledge among officers and soldiers in the finance corps.
”It is also to equip them to tackle financial issues and how to render useful advice to their superior in their various area of responsibility,” he said.
According to him, the training has been well organised and packaged with professionals delivering lectures. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
